The incident happened last month after a group of soldiers visited a local bar.

The UK Ministry of Defence confirmed the arrest, stating that unacceptable and criminal behavior has no place in the Armed Forces and that any serious crime reports are investigated independently.

The arrest comes amid scrutiny of the British army’s conduct in Kenya, following previous allegations of misconduct, including a 2012 case where a local woman, Agnes Wanjiru, was found murdered near the BATUK base. The UK military is cooperating with Kenyan authorities in the investigation.

The British army has faced allegations of mistreating locals, including a reported hit-and-run incident and claims of British soldiers impregnating local women before abandoning them and their children.
