Egyptian authorities have detained more than 200 pro-Palestinian activists in Cairo ahead of a planned international march aimed at challenging Israel’s blockade on Gaza.
According to Saif Abukeshek, spokesperson for the protest initiative, the detained individuals included participants from a range of countries, including the United States, Australia, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Morocco, and Algeria. He told AFP that the detentions occurred primarily at Cairo International Airport, while some activists were also questioned at their hotels across the capital.

The planned march, which has drawn international attention, was intended to mobilize support for Palestinians and put pressure on Israel to lift its long-standing blockade on Gaza. Organisers said the event was meant to be peaceful and symbolic, bringing together voices from around the world to highlight the humanitarian crisis in the enclave.
Egyptian officials have not publicly commented on the detentions. The country, which shares a border with Gaza, has often maintained tight security controls around pro-Palestinian activism, citing concerns about public order and regional diplomacy.
