Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s country home in Ihima, Kogi State, was attacked by suspected gunmen for the second time in two months.
The attackers vandalized windows and attempted to inflict further damage before being repelled by local police, community vigilantes, and youths.
One suspect, Suberu Jose, was apprehended and allegedly confessed to participating in three previous attacks on the senator’s residence.
Jose is believed to be a ritualist linked to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s political opponents.
The incident occurred amid increasing political tension surrounding Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who is currently facing two criminal charges filed by the Federal Government following her public accusation of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan condemned the attack, urging the public to remain calm and law-abiding, and called for an end to violence and political intimidation.
In a statement, her media team said, “Our resolve to speak truth to power and advocate for our people must not be met with terror.
We call on security agencies to ensure thorough investigations and bring all perpetrators to justice.” The police have launched an investigation into the incident, and the senator’s family is seeking increased security measures to prevent future attacks.
