The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has stated that President Bola Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 election will be decided after the party’s national convention, usually held about a year before the general election.
Basiru said that while Tinubu enjoys overwhelming endorsement from party stakeholders to run for re-election, the question of his running mate is not yet on the table.
The APC national secretary made this known on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief programme, adding that the party has not made any statement or gotten involved in the politics of the North-East regarding the running mate issue.
He noted that the national convention will determine the presidential candidate, and the running mate issue will be decided afterward.
