The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has affirmed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that Arch.
Setonji Koshoedo remains the party’s Acting National Secretary, citing a resolution by its National Working Committee (NWC) that directed Koshoedo to act in the position as provided under Section 36 (2) of the party’s Constitution.
The party stated that no organ of the PDP has overturned this decision, following reports that INEC had advised the party that it would not honour any correspondence signed by Koshoedo.
However, INEC has denied having any such advisory in its records, in a letter dated May 26, 2025, and addressed to the Executive Director of a civil society organisation, Initiative for Ethics and Value Orientation.
The commission’s Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, stated that the document under reference was not in its records and drew attention to the provisions of Section 82(1&5) to guide future engagement.
The PDP National Working Committee (NWC) had, in an official correspondence with reference number: PDP/DOM/GF.2/ VOL.
IF/25-061, dated May 05, 2025, forwarded its resolution taken at its 600th meeting to INEC, informing the commission of Koshoedo’s appointment as Acting National Secretary and requesting that the commission update its records to reflect the change.
