Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State on Sunday night led a high-level delegation to Madina, Saudi Arabia, to attend the funeral rites of late business mogul and elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata.
Dantata, a revered philanthropist and industrialist, passed away on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where he spent his final days.

According to a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, the delegation included the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II; Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Umar Namadi; former Jigawa Governor, Ali Sa’ad Birnin Kudu; and several other top officials and dignitaries.
Speaking at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport before the delegation’s departure, Governor Yusuf described Dantata as “a father to many,” whose impact extended well beyond the borders of Kano and Nigeria.
“The late Aminu Dantata represented an era of integrity, faith, and enterprise that helped shape modern Nigeria,” Yusuf said, noting that the trip to Madina was to honour the statesman’s enduring legacy.
The funeral is expected to draw family members, business associates, Islamic scholars, and dignitaries from around the world.
