Nigerian Government Delegation Arrives in Madinah For Burial of Aminu Dantata

A high-level Federal Government delegation has arrived in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, to receive the remains of the late Nigerian business magnate and elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, ahead of his burial in the Islamic holy city.

Dantata, who passed away on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, at the age of 94, will be laid to rest on Monday in accordance with Islamic rites.

The delegation, which departed Nigeria late Sunday, touched down in Madinah in the early hours of Monday. It is led by the Minister of Defence and former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar.

Other members include the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN); the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; and the Minister of State for Housing Development, Honourable Yusuf Abdullahi Ata.

Also part of the delegation are renowned Islamic scholars Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, and Khalifa Abdullahi Muhammad, the Imam of the Dantata Mosque in Abuja.

They were received by officials from Nigeria’s consulate general in Jeddah, led by Ambassador Muazzam Ibrahim Nayaya, who had been coordinating funeral arrangements in Madinah. The burial is scheduled to take place later today.
