The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a Lagos businessman, Ajah Johnson Uchenna, his wife Rosemary Uchenna, their two daughters, Stella and Ngozi Uchenna, and a family friend, Okoro Elijah, for allegedly operating a major illicit drug distribution network in Lagos.
The family was apprehended following a series of operations by security agencies, starting with the couple’s arrest on June 13 by the Department of State Services in Ojo, Lagos, where 277.5kg of skunk was seized.
Further investigation revealed the family business was still operational, prompting a raid on their home and packing store on July 1, yielding an additional 231kg of skunk.
The NDLEA also intercepted cocaine consignments concealed in lipsticks and property title documents heading to the UK and Saudi Arabia, and suspected counterfeit travelers’ cheques worth $17.7 million AUD bound for Malaysia.
