Three Kenya Defence Forces soldiers were killed and seven others injured when their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in Lamu County’s Badaah area along the Kiunga-Sankuri road.
The soldiers were returning to Kiunga after ferrying colleagues to Sankuri when the incident occurred.
A multi-agency response team was swiftly deployed to secure the area, pursue the perpetrators, and intensify patrols to restrict enemy movement.
The injured soldiers were evacuated to Kiunga Hospital and later transferred to specialized military medical facilities, where they are reportedly in stable condition.
This incident follows another deadly attack in Garissa County, where two civilians were killed after their vehicle hit an IED along the Ijara-Bodhai road, suspected to be the work of Al-Shabaab militants.
The Kenya Defence Forces have launched an operation to apprehend the perpetrators, reiterating their commitment to protecting the country’s borders.
