A Federal High Court in Abuja has barred human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore from attending the ongoing trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), due to limited courtroom space.
Despite submitting a list of 20 individuals, including Sowore, for clearance to attend the proceedings, the judge’s chambers informed that only 10 persons would be granted access.
Sowore’s name was among those removed from the list, sparking concerns about government restrictions on public access to the trial.
This is not the first time Sowore has been barred from attending Kanu’s trial, with previous instances sparking accusations of government persecution.
