The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 60-year-old ‘drug kingpin’, Okpara Paul Chigozie, after a seven-year manhunt, seizing 11.6 kilograms of hard drugs, including cocaine and methamphetamine, at his Lagos hideout.
The breakthrough came after NDLEA operatives intercepted one of Okpara’s couriers, Achebe Kenneth Nnamdi, with 7.6kg of cocaine and 900g of methamphetamine concealed in a Toyota Sienna vehicle.
A follow-up operation at Okpara’s hideout led to the recovery of an additional 1.8kg of cocaine and 1.3kg of methamphetamine.
Okpara, who had been on the NDLEA’s wanted list since 2019, was eventually nabbed at his Isheri residence in Lagos.
