A devastating shipwreck off the coast of Tobruk, eastern Libya, has claimed the lives of at least 18 migrants, with 50 others still unaccounted for.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported that ten survivors have been rescued so far.
According to diplomatic sources, the migrants were from Egypt, and ten bodies have been identified and repatriated.
The survivors are currently being held in an anti-illegal migration facility.
Libya has become a major transit point for migrants fleeing conflict and poverty, often facing exploitation, abuse, and life-threatening journeys.
The IOM emphasizes that this tragedy highlights the deadly risks migrants take in search of safety and opportunity.
