Nigerian international Ademola Lookman has officially requested a transfer from Atalanta, citing unmet promises and what he describes as unfair treatment by the club.
In a statement shared via his official X account on Sunday, Lookman reflected on his time in Bergamo, expressing both pride in his contributions and deep disappointment over recent developments.

“Over the past three years at Atalanta, I’ve given absolutely everything. Not just as a footballer, but as a person,” Lookman wrote.
He recalled the pride of representing the club and city, highlighting the pinnacle of his Atalanta career — winning the UEFA Europa League in Dublin earlier this year.
“Winning the Europa League and standing shoulder to shoulder with my teammates that night in Dublin, celebrating with our fans, was one of the proudest moments of my career so far. It still gives me goosebumps thinking about it,” he added.
However, the former Leicester City and RB Leipzig forward revealed that despite prior conversations and an understanding with the club regarding a potential move, Atalanta is now preventing his transfer without clear explanation.
“Despite now receiving an offer in alignment to what I believe had been discussed, sadly the club are blocking the opportunity for reasons I do not understand,” Lookman stated.

He accused the club of repeatedly going back on their word, saying the situation had deteriorated after “many months of broken promises and what I feel has been poor treatment towards me as both a human being and as a professional footballer.”
In a bold and emotional move, Lookman said he felt compelled to speak out.
“Sadly, I feel I have no choice but to speak out for what I believe is right, and I feel that enough is enough. I can confirm I have now handed in a formal transfer request,” he announced.
Despite the tense situation, the 26-year-old forward expressed heartfelt appreciation to Atalanta supporters.
“To the fans, you’ve been the heartbeat of this club, and I’m incredibly grateful for the love and support you’ve shown me,” he wrote. “I hope you can understand this incredibly difficult situation. It’s simply about standing up for what I believe is fair and right.”
Lookman concluded his statement by expressing hope for a peaceful and respectful resolution between himself and the club
