The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has denied reports that the Lagos-Ibadan Standard Gauge Railway has been vandalized and rendered unsafe.

NRC’s Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, clarified that the claims were inaccurate, stating that a video referenced in a report was outdated and did not depict the Lagos-Ibadan corridor.

Instead, the incidents occurred in August 2024 along the old narrow gauge line between Omi-Adio and Erunmu in Oyo State.

The NRC had taken measures to address the issue, including sensitization campaigns and arrests.

Opeifa warned potential vandals of severe consequences and urged the public to report suspicious activity, reaffirming the NRC’s commitment to safeguarding railway infrastructure.
