Brighton and Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has been nominated for the prestigious 2025 Yacine Trophy, following an exceptional year for both club and country.
She will face competition from Germany and Gotham FC Goalkeeper, Ann-Katrin Berger, Spain and Barcelona’s Cata Coll, Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton and Arsenal’s Daphine Van Domselaar.
The 24-year-old shot-stopper played a key role in Nigeria’s 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title triumph in 2024, where she was deservedly named Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament.

Nnadozie was a wall in goal for the Super Falcons throughout the campaign, keeping four clean sheets in five matches. She anchored Nigeria’s defence in wins over Tunisia (3–0) and Botswana (1–0), and a goalless draw against Algeria in the group stage. Her commanding presence continued in the 5–0 demolition of Zambia in the quarter-finals. Although she conceded once in the 2–1 semi-final win over South Africa, she remained a vital figure in Nigeria’s progression.

In the final against hosts Morocco, Nnadozie helped Nigeria recover from a 2–0 deficit to secure a dramatic 3–2 victory, thanks to a late winner by Jennifer Echegini. The victory marked Nnadozie’s second WAFCON title, having first won the competition in 2018.

Before her summer move to Brighton & Hove Albion, Nnadozie capped off her time at Paris FC in remarkable fashion. She led the French side to the Coupe de France Féminine title—the club’s first in 20 years delivering a heroic performance by saving two penalties in a tense shootout that ended 5–4.
The winner of the award will be announced on the 22nd September 2025.
