There was jubilation at Government House Chapel, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, during a Sunday Holy Mass when Governor Francis Nwifuru approved the payment of 75,000 naira minimum wage to civil servants.

According to Governor Nwifuru , his decision followed careful review of the current economic situation in the Country especially as it affects the workforce.

He added that the least paid Civil Servant on grade level 2 will enjoy full minimum wage of 75, 000 while from grade level 3 and above will get incremental of 40,000 across board.

The Governor announced that implementation of the new minimum wage would commence on Monday, 28th October, 2024.

Governor Nwifuru also announced the appointment of General Managers to pilot affairs of two major Industries in the State.

The appointees include Dr. Obinna Ezenkwa, Umuoghara Pulverization Plant and Barrister Uchenna Otuh, Ezzamgbo Pipe Production Factory

The Governor said the appointments were made bearing in mind the expertise of the appointees which are needful to drive the Industries.

He urged them to endeavor to bring their expertise to bear in the service to the State.

Governor Nwifuru called on Stakeholders of the State to support the new General Managers to prosper the State through the Industries.
