Akin Olowokere, the newly appointed assistant coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) in Ibadan, Oyo State, tragically collapsed and died during a training session on Monday morning.
Olowokere, a former player for Sunshine Stars of Akure and later a coach, slumped on the pitch while actively involved in training drills, prompting immediate medical attention.
Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The cause of his sudden death has not been officially disclosed.
Olowokere was recently appointed as part of the new coaching team for the Oluyole Warriors after the club parted ways with the previous coaching crew led by Gbenga Ogunbote.
Known for being soft-spoken, Olowokere spent many years as a regular player with Sunshine Stars of Akure before transitioning into coaching, and most recently served as an assistant coach under head coach Edith Agoye.
