Boko Haram insurgents have launched a deadly attack on a Nigerian military base in the Rann area of Kala Balge district in Borno State, killing at least two soldiers and injuring many others.

Some soldiers attached to the battalion fled into neighboring Cameroon following the intense battle with the militants.

This incident comes months after a similar attack in Malam-Fatori, where 22 soldiers, including a commander, were killed.

Nigeria has been battling Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East region since 2009, with the military consistently claiming to have largely defeated the terrorists despite repeated attacks and casualties.
