Normal operations have resumed at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, following a fire incident reported at the facility on Sunday.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had earlier confirmed the incident, stating that its Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) was immediately deployed to the scene to contain the fire and prevent it from escalating.
The authority said emergency personnel were mobilised to safeguard passengers, airport workers and facilities within the terminal.
FAAN also confirmed that no casualties or injuries were recorded in the incident.
In its initial statement, the agency said, “The FAAN Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service is currently responding to the incident and working diligently to contain the situation.”
However, in a subsequent update, FAAN announced that normal activities had resumed at the terminal.
“Normal operations have resumed at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, following the earlier incident. Passengers are being processed, and flight activities are continuing as scheduled,” the authority stated.
The cause of the fire has not been disclosed, while FAAN said further details would be provided as more information becomes available.
The Murtala Muhammed International Airport is one of Nigeria’s major aviation hubs, serving thousands of domestic and international passengers daily.
