The Abu Najim Police Department in Sirte, Libya, has apprehended six Nigerian nationals, along with a Libyan driver identified as A.M.M. and his mother, for alleged involvement in human smuggling.
According to Migrant Rescue Watch, the police intercepted a vehicle driven by A.M.M., who was accompanied by his mother, and found the six undocumented Nigerian migrants inside.
All those arrested have been referred to the competent legal authorities for prosecution.
This incident highlights Libya’s ongoing struggle with human smuggling, as the country remains a major transit hub for migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea to reach Europe.
