The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) in Kaduna State has resumed its indefinite strike action, initially declared in June 2025, due to the state government’s failure to meet their demands.
Despite a two-month grace period granted to the government to address outstanding contentious issues, no resolution has been reached, leading to the strike’s resumption.
The doctors’ association had urged members to continue working and allow the government to address the 100% Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) 2024 implementation and other welfare demands by the end of August 2025.
However, the government’s inaction has left the doctors with no option but to down tools.
The ARD emphasized that the government’s failure to implement the agreed-upon demands, including full payment of CONMESS 2024 with two-month arrears, necessitated the strike.
The strike notice was issued after an emergency congress meeting held virtually with members on August 14, 2025.
