The Federal Government has announced that Friday, September 5, 2025, will be observed as a public holiday in commemoration of Eid-ul-Maulud, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration, urging Muslims to reflect on the prophet’s virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion, which are essential for building a united and prosperous nation.
Tunji-Ojo also implored citizens to use the celebration to pray for peace, security, and stability in the country, while supporting government initiatives that promote harmony and sustainable development.
He wished Muslims a joyous and peaceful Eid-ul-Maulud celebration, emphasizing the importance of strengthening bonds of brotherhood and promoting peaceful coexistence.
