Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced that the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line has transported over five million passengers since it commenced operations two years ago.

In a statement shared on his official X handle on Wednesday, the governor highlighted that the service had run without a single accident since its launch in 2023.

“In these two years, the Blue Line has carried more than five million passengers safely, without a single accident. Trains now run every 10 minutes, making over 90 trips each day. Journeys that once took much longer have become faster and easier,” Sanwo-Olu wrote.

He described the milestone as proof of what could be achieved through purposeful planning and execution. “These achievements show that when we work with dedication and purpose, we can build systems that truly serve the people,” he added.

To mark the second anniversary of the project, Sanwo-Olu announced a 50 per cent discount on fares for Thursday, September 4, 2025. “If you have not yet experienced the Blue Line, I encourage you to take a ride and see what we have built together,” he said.

The Lagos Blue Line, inaugurated in 2023, is part of the state government’s long-term plan to expand mass transit infrastructure, reduce traffic congestion, and improve commuting within Africa’s largest megacity.
