Hon. Henry Mbachu, the Anambra State House of Assembly member representing Awka South Constituency 1, has officially left the Labour Party (LP) to join the Young Progressive Party (YPP).
In a video announcement, Mbachu explained that his decision followed a careful evaluation of YPP’s governorship candidate, Paul Chukwuma, and his manifesto, which he said aligns with his vision for a transformed Anambra State.
“I am confident that Chukwuma’s blueprint for the state addresses the needs of our people, particularly the youths, and offers practical plans for economic development,” Mbachu said. He added that the candidate’s agenda complements his own legislative priorities for his constituents in Awka and Okpuno.
Mbachu pledged to work diligently for YPP and Chukwuma in the November 8, 2025, governorship election, assuring constituents that the party represents the best pathway for local development. He emphasized that under Chukwuma’s leadership, residents of Awka and Okpuno would benefit first from new government facilities and projects, from primary to tertiary levels.
“This decision is grounded in what is best for our people,” Mbachu said, stressing his commitment to supporting a candidate whose vision and policies resonate with the community’s interests.
