A violent confrontation erupted in Abuja’s Games Village when operatives from the Nigeria Police Force’s Inspector-General’s Monitoring Unit allegedly shot and injured a staff member of Olusco Group of Companies.

The incident occurred while police attempted to enforce a disputed land claim favoring the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN).

Mr. Yakubu Lawal Omaye, the victim, sustained gunshot injuries reportedly inflicted by an officer named Taiwo, acting under CSP Patrick Lamin’s orders.

The land dispute revolves around a joint venture between Olusco Group and PMAN, initiated in 2023.

According to Olusco Group Chairman, Mr. Olumeyan Oluwafemi, PMAN’s suspended president, Pretty Okafor, who was involved in the agreement, later attempted to renege on the deal despite Oluwafemi’s significant investment.

Okafor allegedly brought in the police to forcibly take over the site, despite ongoing court proceedings.

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory granted an order restraining the police from interfering with the site.

Oluwafemi accused the police of complicity and claimed there were plans to have him arrested, poisoned, or killed.
