A deadly bandit raid in Kokodo village, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, has claimed the lives of four people and left two others kidnapped.
The attack occurred late Thursday night, around 11:40 p.m., targeting a group of local hunters who tried to fend off the assailants.
Three hunters were killed on the spot, while a fourth victim died the following morning due to severe gunshot wounds.
The attackers abducted two community members before fleeing the scene, leaving residents in deep concern over their safety.
This incident adds to a growing pattern of violent attacks in Kwara North, where communities continue to live under the threat of banditry.
Residents are urging authorities to establish a stronger and more permanent security presence to prevent further tragedies.
In a related development, the Emir of Lafiagi, Alhaji Muhammad Kudu Kawu, has threatened journalists and media practitioners over reports exposing rising insecurity in Kwara North communities.
The Emir allegedly warned them against further reporting incidents of terrorism and bandit attacks, claiming he was acting on the orders of the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Journalists covering the area are reportedly operating under fear of arrest and harassment.
