Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has successfully brokered peace between local government workers and Emohua Council Chairman Chidi Lloyd, leading to the suspension of a statewide strike by the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees.
The dispute arose after Lloyd refused to pay some staff members he claimed hadn’t been properly verified.
Following a closed-door meeting with Fubara, NULGE President Clifford Paul announced the strike’s suspension, stating,
“We have resolved. His Excellency has directed that this matter will be handled harmoniously.”
The governor’s intervention has brought relief to residents and local government staff, ensuring essential council services resume without further disruption.
