Bandits have stormed a cassava farm in Kwara State’s Edu Local Government Area, abducting two brothers and sparking fears among farmers in the region.
The attack occurred on Wednesday in the Bokungi Zambufu community, where the gunmen opened fire, forcing villagers to flee.
One of the victims, Mohammed Mohammed, a prominent community figure and former President of the National Association of Nupe Students, was among those taken.
The incident has heightened concerns about the rising wave of attacks in the area, with residents accusing authorities of failing to address the insecurity.
This recent abduction brings to mind other similar incidents in the state, including the abduction of two sons of a community youth leader in Essanti village and a violent raid on Marri Village that left one person dead and another injured.
