Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Abuja after a week-long diplomatic mission representing President Bola Tinubu at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and strategic engagements in Germany.

During his international engagement, Shettima delivered President Tinubu’s national statement, calling for comprehensive UN reforms and championing Africa’s sovereignty over its $700 billion mineral resources.

He also strengthened partnerships with the UK, Gates Foundation, and other global stakeholders.

Shettima met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, securing his commendation for Nigeria’s bid for a permanent Security Council seat.

Additionally, he showcased Nigeria’s $200 billion energy transition opportunity to global investors, aiming to attract foreign investment and accelerate industrialization.

Before departing for Germany, Shettima reassured the Nigerian diaspora community of robust engagement in the Tinubu administration’s policies and programs.
