The police have apprehended 12 suspects in connection with the armed robbery incident that led to the death of Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a news anchor and producer with Arise Television, and a private security guard attached to her residence.

The suspects, who have confessed to the crime, were arrested through a combination of digital tracking and intelligence gathering.

According to the authorities, the robbery occurred on September 29, when armed men invaded Maduagwu’s residence in the Katampe area of Abuja, resulting in her death and that of the security guard.

The police investigation revealed that the suspects gained access to the building after shooting the security guard who attempted to prevent them from entering.

The Suspects:

  • Shamsudeen Hassan, who allegedly shot the security guard
  • Sani Sirajo, who claimed to have tried to catch Maduagwu as she fell from the building
  • Other suspects from various states, including Katsina, Kaduna, and Borno

The police have assured the public that they will do everything possible to ensure justice is served.

The case highlights the need for improved security measures in residential areas and the importance of swift police response to distress calls.
