The Black Stars of Ghana have booked their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Comoros 1-0 in a tense qualifier at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mohammed Kudus proved to be the difference-maker, scoring the decisive goal early in the second half to seal Ghana’s qualification.

After a tightly contested first half with few clear chances, the Black Stars returned from the break with greater urgency. Just three minutes after the restart, Thomas Partey threaded a precise pass through to Kudus, who controlled neatly before firing a right-footed shot into the roof of the net.

Comoros fought valiantly to find an equaliser but struggled to create any real danger, as Ghana’s defence held firm to see out the win before a jubilant home crowd.

With this victory, Ghana become the fifth African nation to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, joining Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia as confirmed representatives from the continent.

The qualification marks Ghana’s return to the global stage, reinforcing their reputation as one of Africa’s football powerhouses.
