Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist and former presidential candidate, has filed a N500 million lawsuit against the Nigeria Police Force, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, and Lagos State Commissioner of Police Moshood Jimoh.

The lawsuit stems from a public declaration by the Lagos Police Commissioner on November 3, 2025, naming Sowore as a “wanted person” without prior invitation, warrant, or charge.

Sowore’s lawyers argue that this declaration has unlawfully tarnished his reputation and impaired his fundamental rights to dignity, liberty, and freedom of movement.

The activist claims he is a law-abiding citizen who would have honored any lawful invitation for investigation.

The motion seeks several urgent reliefs, including an order restraining the police from harassing, intimidating, or arresting Sowore and setting aside the public declaration labeling him as a wanted person.
