The distress call came from a Cameroonian national who narrated how she had been deceived from Cameroon into Nigeria on September 29, 2025, by one Donald, a fellow Cameroonian, who promised to help her process a Canadian visa.

Upon her arrival at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, the victim was received by members of the supposed “agency” and transported to Mowe, Ogun State, where she and her 23-year-old sister were held hostage.

On November 3, 2025, the complainant managed to escape from captivity and alerted the police, revealing that several other victims were being detained in a two-bedroom apartment in the Pakuro area of Ogun State.

Following the report, a tactical team from the anti-kidnapping Unit stormed the hideout and rescued one of the victims, identified as Kengne Maeva, unhurt.

Meanwhile, two suspects — Ndzana Kamga Isidore and Tingue Stephen — were arrested at the scene, while the principal suspect, Donald, remains at large.

Preliminary investigations revealed that thee victims’ family members in Cameroon had paid a ransom of 3,600,000 CFA into a Cameroonian bank account belonging to the fleeing suspect.
