The All Progressives Congress (APC) pulled off a surprising upset in the hometown of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, securing wins at several polling units in Amatutu village, Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area.
At Obi’s own polling unit, APC garnered 73 votes, edging out Labour Party with 57 votes, while APGA came third with 38 votes.
APC also dominated other units, including Amatutu Village Hall, where they secured 117 votes, and Model Primary Health Care Centre, where they got 25 votes.
The outcome was unexpected, given Obi’s historical stronghold in the area, and is seen as a significant win for APC, with Senator Uche Ekwunife, the APC governorship running mate, hailing from the area.
