US Vice President JD Vance has cancelled his planned visit to Kenya later this month after President Donald Trump pulled out of the G20 summit in South Africa, citing alleged human rights abuses against white Afrikaners.

Vance was set to attend the summit from November 22 to 23 before heading to Kenya, a key US ally in Africa.

Kenya’s foreign ministry stated that the cancellation won’t affect the strong ties between the two nations, adding that they’re still aiming for a trade deal with the US by year’s end.

This move comes amid Kenya’s efforts to balance its relationships with the US and China, with Vance’s visit seen as an opportunity to strengthen economic cooperation.
