A Federal High Court in Abuja has restrained the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from holding its 2025 national convention scheduled for November 15-16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The court also barred the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from supervising, monitoring, or recognizing the outcome of the convention.
The order was issued by Justice Peter Lifu following an application by former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, who alleged he was denied the opportunity to purchase the chairmanship nomination form.
This ruling follows a similar decision by Justice James Omotosho on October 31, citing the party’s failure to hold valid state congresses and comply with INEC guidelines and its own constitution.
The PDP has been ordered to comply with statutory requirements before proceeding with the convention.
