The Lagos State Government has announced the commencement of road rehabilitation on the busy Lekki-Ajah corridor, set to begin Saturday, November 15, 2025, and run for eight months until Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the project aims to improve road quality and ease traffic flow along one of the state’s busiest routes. Osiyemi said the rehabilitation will be carried out in two phases to minimize disruption to motorists and local businesses, with preliminary works already underway.

This phase will cover seven sections of the expressway. One lane of the two-lane road will be closed at a time, allowing traffic to use the remaining lane. Once the first lane is completed, work will shift to the other lane. Motorists traveling between Lekki and Ajah are expected to have continuous passage during this phase.

The second phase will focus on four sections of the road. Traffic diversions will be implemented to maintain movement, with one lane open at all times. Motorists heading toward Ajah will have uninterrupted passage while work progresses.

The Lagos State Government urged residents and road users to be patient and follow traffic directions, emphasizing that the temporary inconvenience will lead to long-term benefits. Osiyemi said the project aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to sustainable urban mobility and infrastructural renewal across Lagos.

Commuters are advised to plan their journeys and cooperate with traffic management personnel deployed along the corridor to ensure smooth movement during the project.

The rehabilitation follows recent works on the Eti-Osa/Lekki/Epe Expressway stretch from Admiralty Way Junction to Jubilee Bridge in Ajah, which commenced in September.
