The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is moving forward with its National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15-16, 2025, despite a court order barring the event.

Delegates have begun arriving in the city, and the venue, Lekan Salami Stadium, is adorned with the party’s colours.

The PDP has reaffirmed its commitment to holding the convention, with stakeholders describing the dates as “irrevocable”.

However, the convention is mired in controversy, with conflicting court orders from Abuja and Oyo State.

A faction of the party, led by Sam Anyanwu, has announced the convention’s postponement, while another faction, led by Umar Damagum, insists it will proceed as planned.

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has urged the PDP to shelve the convention and appoint a caretaker committee instead, citing concerns over the party’s internal crisis and conflicting court orders. The PDP’s Board of Trustees has rejected this advice, insisting the convention will go ahead.
