The Muslim Ummah of Southwest Nigeria (MUSWEN) has rejected US President Donald Trump’s decision to classify Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern,” calling it unwarranted and misrepresenting the country’s realities.

Speaking at a press conference in Osogbo, MUSWEN President Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo emphasized that insecurity affects both Christians and Muslims, with Muslim communities being the hardest hit by insurgency.

Oladejo argued that Trump’s move appears to be driven by ulterior economic and political motives, rather than altruism.

He stressed that Nigeria is capable of handling its internal security challenges and rejected US interference based on misleading claims.

The MUSWEN leader also highlighted Nigeria’s respected position on the continent, citing its role in African liberation and the anti-apartheid struggle.

The 10th General Assembly of MUSWEN, scheduled for November 16, will focus on Nigeria’s economy and feature a N2 billion fundraising effort for economic empowerment, scholarships, and training programs.
