Comedienne and actress Damilola Adekoya, popularly known as Princess, has called on the Lagos State Government and the Department of Justice to immediately add actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, to the state’s sex offender register following his release from prison.

Princess made the appeal during a live Instagram session on Saturday, November 15, 2025, stressing that the public must not lose sight of the gravity of the offences for which Baba Ijesha was convicted.

“I want to urge the Lagos State Government, the Department of Justice, to please publish his name in the sex offenders register,” she said, noting that she would be awaiting updates on the matter.

Reacting to speculation that the actor was pardoned, Princess clarified that Baba Ijesha regained his freedom only after completing his sentence. “No matter how much it hurt me, I have not hoarded any information; Baba Ijesha is now a convict… nobody freed him,” she stated. She added that she felt relieved that schools, landlords, and the public were aware of his past actions.

Before the live session, Princess had shared a video where she appeared in a caricature form to raise awareness about child abuse. In the clip, she urged Nigerians to report any cases of physical, mental, or sexual abuse involving minors to the Princess Damilola Foundation.

Meanwhile, Baba Ijesha’s release has stirred debate online. His freedom followed a Court of Appeal judgment overturning his conviction for sexually assaulting a minor. Actor Yomi Fabiyi announced the development on Friday, celebrating the ruling in a post that read: “You are now officially FREE AND OUT. Baba Ijesha is not just back but BETTER.”

A viral, unverified video showed Baba Ijesha sitting in a vehicle shortly after his release, expressing relief and saying he needed rest.

Baba Ijesha was accused by Princess of molesting her 14-year-old foster daughter. CCTV footage reportedly captured him touching and fondling the minor. In July 2022, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison by a Lagos court after being found guilty of multiple offences, including sexual assault and indecent treatment of a child.

Attempts to seek comment from Baba Ijesha directly were unsuccessful, while efforts to reach Fabiyi also yielded no response. Calls and messages to Princess went unanswered as her phone was switched off at the time of filing this report.
