Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has announced his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
Governor Kefas stated that his decision is driven by the interests and future of Taraba residents, rather than personal gain.
He made this announcement during an inspection of the ongoing renovation of the Jolly Nyame Stadium, the proposed venue for the defection ceremony.
The governor’s decision has received full support from members of the state executive council, who believe that aligning with the Federal Government will bring development to the state.
The APC has also welcomed the governor’s decision, with the party’s National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, expected to lead top executives to Jalingo to officially welcome Governor Kefas into the party.
Governor Kefas is not the first PDP governor to join the APC this year.
Other governors who have made similar moves include Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, and Sheriff Obovrevwori of Delta State.
The defection comes amid allegations of financial inducements being offered to opposition governors and lawmakers to join the ruling party.
