Samuel Anyanwu, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has rejected his expulsion from the party, describing the recent convention in Ibadan as a “jamboree”.
Anyanwu, who was the suspended national secretary of the party, said the event was “illegitimate” due to the lack of participation from several state delegations, including the entire south-east.
He stated that 16 states had not conducted their congresses, and the convention fell short of being inclusive.
Anyanwu also mentioned that he had obtained a court judgment and order against his suspension, questioning the legitimacy of the expulsion.
The PDP convention, which took place over the weekend, also saw the expulsion of Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and Ayo Fayose, former governor of Ekiti, among others.
A new leadership was elected, with Kabiru Turaki set to head the party.
