The Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) has launched a statewide free HIV testing campaign across all Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), running from 18 November to 1 December 2025, as part of activities marking the 2025 World AIDS Day.

According to a statement posted on LSACA’s X handle on Tuesday, the initiative aims to expand access to HIV testing, promote early diagnosis, and strengthen linkage to treatment and care. The agency said trained counsellor-testers, test kits, condoms, and information materials have been deployed across communities to ensure a smooth rollout.

LSACA’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Folakemi Animashaun, said the state remains committed to increasing access to confidential and convenient HIV testing.

“As we approach the 2025 World AIDS Day, our priority is to ensure that every resident of Lagos has the opportunity to know their HIV status in a safe, confidential, and accessible manner,” she said. “Testing remains the gateway to prevention and treatment.”

She said the agency is partnering with development organisations and community-based groups to reach underserved areas and close existing testing gaps.

Residents were encouraged to visit designated testing centres in their LGAs and LCDAs to access free services.

Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to improving healthcare access, Animashaun noted that efforts are ongoing to expand HIV testing and counselling centres and intensify awareness campaigns to prevent new infections.

LSACA urged Lagos residents to take advantage of the free testing exercise, stressing that knowing one’s HIV status is key to achieving an HIV-free generation.

Established to coordinate Lagos State’s HIV/AIDS response, LSACA works with government ministries, development partners, civil society, and community structures to reduce infection rates and improve the quality of life for people living with HIV.
