A chaotic scene unfolded at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja today, November 18, 2025, as police fired tear gas to disperse a crowd of supporters, including Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), and factional National Chairman Tanimu Turaki, who were denied access to Wadata House by Senator Samuel Anyanwu-led faction.
The gate was eventually opened when FCT Minister Nyesom Wike arrived.
The incident highlights the ongoing internal strife within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with various factions vying for control.
The Anyanwu-led faction had earlier manned the main gate, refusing entry to Turaki and the governors, leading to tensions and the eventual police intervention.
The PDP has been grappling with internal conflicts, with multiple factions emerging and contesting for legitimacy.
The party’s national leadership has been a subject of dispute, with various stakeholders calling for reconciliation and unity.
