In a troubling development, troops of the Nigerian Army were ambushed while on a mission to rescue the schoolgirls recently kidnapped in Kebbi State.

A video circulating online shows several soldiers receiving medical attention following the attack. Reports indicate that the troops came under heavy fire from armed assailants along their route, leading to a fierce gun battle before they were able to withdraw with the injured personnel.
