The 24 schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, Kebbi state, have been rescued, security sources confirmed to TheCable on Tuesday.
Details of the efforts that led to the rescue of the students are still sketchy, but an official announcement is expected tonight.
President Bola Tinubu had directed the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, to relocate to Kebbi State to oversee security efforts to secure the release of the abducted students.
The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, have also visited Kebbi State to show support and reassure the government and people of the state that the rescue of the girls remains a national priority.
