The coup, announced by a group of military officers, has led to the suspension of the electoral process, closure of borders, and an overnight curfew.

Jonathan and hundreds of foreign observers are currently stranded, with reports indicating they are safe but unable to leave the country.

The WAEF mission, along with other African leaders, has condemned the coup, calling for the restoration of constitutional order and the release of detained officials.
