Nigerian rapper and activist Eedris Abdulkareem’s Facebook and Instagram accounts have been suspended by Meta, allegedly due to his latest song, “Open Letter to Donald Trump”.

The song, released in November 2025, criticizes corruption, insecurity, and poor leadership in Nigeria, with Abdulkareem accusing Nigerian leaders of enriching themselves while citizens suffer.

Abdulkareem confirmed the suspension, stating he has been unable to access his accounts since the song’s release.

The move has sparked reactions from fans and fellow artists, with some calling it censorship and others expressing support for the rapper’s bold stance.

This isn’t Abdulkareem’s first run-in with authorities; his previous songs, “Jaga Jaga” (2004) and “Tell Your Papa” (2025), were banned for criticizing government policies. Abdulkareem has built a reputation as a vocal critic of Nigerian leadership, using his music to highlight social injustices.

The suspension has raised questions about free speech and online moderation, with some arguing that Meta is stifling dissenting voices. Abdulkareem has vowed to continue speaking out, and his fans are rallying behind him, using hashtags like #EedrisVoiceMustBeHeard and #FreeEedris.
