The family of Alhaji Kamilu Salami, the Ojibara of Bayagan-Ile, has accused the Kwara State Government and the Nigeria Police Force of failing to take concrete action to secure his release, nine days after he was kidnapped.
The monarch was abducted on November 29, 2025, by armed men who are demanding an “unbearable ransom”.
A senior member of the royal family, Alhaji Rafiu Ayinla Lawal, said the family has been struggling to raise the ransom, selling properties and exhausting personal resources.
He appealed to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Kwara State Government, and federal security agencies to intervene urgently.
The kidnappers have allowed the monarch to speak with his family, pleading for help. The ransom demand is reportedly N150 million, a sum the family cannot afford.
The community is in fear and confusion, with residents saying the attack happened suddenly.
