The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken into custody Nigeria’s former Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Abubakar Malami (SAN), for questioning over sundry issues.
Malami was arrested on Monday and later granted bail after meeting the conditions set by the EFCC. He had been searching for two permanent secretaries to serve as sureties for his release.
This is not Malami’s first encounter with the EFCC, as he was previously questioned by the commission in November 2025, regarding allegations of duplicating the recovery process for the $310 million Sani Abacha loot.
Malami denied the allegations, describing them as “baseless, illogical, and devoid of substance”.
